We all said goodbye to Simon Anckorn’s amazing Dad Fergus on Monday of this week at Holy Trinity Church in Hurstpierpoint. At the age of 99 Fergus has had the most incredible life, the earlier part being documented in Peter Fyan’s book. The Conjuror on The Kwai, about his exploits as a Japanese Prisoner of War using his magical skills to survive. In 2016 he helped Lance Corporal Richard Jones secure his victory on Britain’s Got Talent. The memorial service, was packed with tributes and live music with contributions from both family and friends. At the end of the service the last post was played by one of the Household Cavalry musicians that had been on stage at BGT final in 2016 and thereafter it was Fergus’ wish for everyone to ‘raise a glass’ which we all did whilst the bells were being enthusiastically rung outside in his honour.
